Big Shot Bonanza - Day 1

OK, it's been awhile since I posted, so I want to make it up to you, my loyal blog visitors.  For the next (at least) six days, I will be posting a new project using the FABulous Big Shot machine.  Not all of them are original ideas of mine.  I got a lot of ideas from other bloggers and people in my Yahoo! group.  Thank you for sharing, ladies!

Frankenstein Friend

Yet another use for the SU!-exclusive Top Note Sizzix die!  Isn't he cute?  Frankenstein was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid (yes, the old, old, old Frankenstein movie, lol).  I also loved Dracula, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Werewolf, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, etc.  Does it surprise you to find that out about me?  lol!  I love those old classics!

I got this idea from "leggycountrygirl" on SCS.  It uses the Top Note Sizzix die, the 1 3/8, 1 1/4 and 1" SU! circle punches, the large oval punch, the scallop punch and the 3-arrow punch.  Colors are Lovely Lilac, Green Galore, Basic Black and silver.  Stamp Sets:  Smarty Pants and Itty Bitty Backgrounds.

Cool technique - shadowing

Here's a card my club members made last week.  To achieve the "shadow" look, we first stamped the daisies from "Upsy Daisy" in white craft ink.  Then, after that dried, we stamped it again in the Pacific Point ink, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the stamp slightly down and to the left of the first image.  Cool, huh?  (Sorry for the glare.  I had a terrible time trying to get a decent picture of this card).  Enjoy!

"I'd rather be shopping with a friend" card

Actually, I'm not much of a shopper, but I thought that was a good title for this card.  Isn't this adorable?  I came up with it based on a few cards I've seen here and there on SCS and blogs.  The top of the dress and the purse are made from the Round Tab punch.  The handle of the purse was made from the two oval punches (punch the small one first, and then punch the large one around the first punch-out).  I used the 1/2" circle punch to punch out the neckline of the dress, the small oval for the skirt pieces and the Word Window punch (punched once and then inserted back into the punch to punch it again to make a smaller size) for the belt.  The background of the card is the Floral background stamp, which goes perfectly with the Bella Rose paper. That's Riding Hood Red ribbon down the left side.  Don't you love this color combo (Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss) and the new Bella Rose paper?  Yum!

OK, last step.  Here's the finished 12 x 12.  Well, I do need to do the journaling, but I couldn't wait to get this up, lol.  For the journaling, I plan to write "Cara is" in the top box, and then list all her qualities on all the other lines going down the page.  Enjoy.

Simple 6x6

I got the inspiration for this simple layout from our latest monthly demonstrator magazine - Stampin' Success.  I used the new Pocket Silhouettes stamp set (on sale right now!), along with the Smarty Pants set.  Colors are Apricot Appeal, Only Orange, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery.  Enjoy!

Big Shot Basket with Washington Apple Designer Paper

Oooh!  I just LOVE this paper, and I think it makes the cutest basket using the SU! exclusive Baskets & Blooms Die for the Big Shot die cutting machine.  The basket, the tag and the blue flower cutout are all pieces cut from the same die - the Baskets & Blooms Bigz XL die.  I just added some Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, flowers from the Felt Fusion tin and a couple of eyelets. 

It was so great to finally play with my new machine!  I've fallen in love with it and can't wait to make more projects!  Enjoy.
