During Sale-a-Bration, one of the stamp sets that you can get for free with a $50 purchase is Engraved Greetings (see p. 182 of the catalog). What a simple, elegant stamp set! It wasn't until Sale-a-bration came along that I even paid much attention to this set.
For today's card, I used our Note Cards. These cards measure 5"x 3 1/2" and they come with envelopes. 20 cards w/envelopes for $5.95. See p. 171 of the catalog.
The cards don't come with the embossed rectangle edge, but here's my opportunity to teach you a technique!
To make the embossed rectangle edge, I used my (fabulous!) Stampin' Up! Light box, the stylus and a home-made rectangle template.
To make your home-made template, cut a piece of cardstock (the colored cardstock works best because it is thicker) the same size at your notecard - 5" x 3 1/2". Now, using a trimmer with a sliding blade, cut out the inside of your rectangle, leaving a 1/2" border all the way around, making a frame.
Next, place your homemade rectangle template on the Light Box, place your Notecard on top of the rectangle template (be sure to line them up neatly) and use your Stylus to trace along the top of the Notecard, following the inside lines of the rectangle template. Be careful and go slowly with the Stylus, or you may go outside the frame.
This is called dry embossing.
What do you think? Simple elegance, huh? I think it would look great embossed in gold, too! Hmmm...I may have to try that next.
Don't forget, Sale-a-Bration ends March 31. Don't miss out on your opportunity to earn free stamps!
Enjoy, and thanks for stopping by!
