This card features this year's Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set, Turtle & Company. You'll find this set on page 16 of the big catalog. For every one of these sets that is sold, SU! will donate $2 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. It is an adorable set!
My club members made this spinner card this week. The turtle spins across the card when you tilt it (hopefully ending up on his feet, but sometimes he has a mind of his own, lol).
Colors: So Saffron, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi (turtle was stamped on Wasabi using Garden Green ink). Stamps: Turtle & Company. Accessories: Pennant Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge punch, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper (all DSP's are on sale, Buy 3, get 1 free this month), a toothpick, two pennies (for the spinner) and dimensionals.
To make a spinner card: Take your main top piece (in this case the Poppy) and, using the Word Window punch, punch across the card, approx. 1" from the bottom, making a long narrow slot in your top layer (leave about 3/4" at each end (see card sample)). Next, get the top layer of your card all put together (in this case, that's the Poppy with the DSP on it, the pennant and the sun. Now, take one of our dimensionals and trim it so that it's a circle instead of a hexagon (it'll spin better and it'll be narrow enough to fit through the slot). Stick that trimmed dimensional on top of a penny. Now take that penny with the dimensional and put it behind the poppy layer, bringing it up through the slot, dimensional side up. Take another penny and put it on top of that dimensional. Now you have your "spinner" and you're ready to put your image on it (in this case, the turtle, once you cut him out). Now flip the whole piece over. Put a layer of two dimensionals (stacked on top of eachother) in each corner AND above and below the center of the slot. Mount to your card base. TA-DA!
