My family is hosting an exchange student this year. She turned 16 today, so I made this card for her. She plays the double bass and is very passionate about music, so the musical note paper from the Modern Medley Designer Series paper pack was a must. She loves making cards (which she has never done before) and she loved this one. I hope you like it, too!
Colors: Very Vanilla, Basic Black. Pattern paper: Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. Ribbon: 1/8" black taffeta ribbon. Also: Silver Glimmer paper.
Dies used for the numbers are retired. The current Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies (p. 192) for the Big Shot are very similar.

Fall is here and the leaves are turning! I felt the need to design a card with that in mind, so here's a card my club members made today.
Stamps: Bring on the Cake. Cardstock Colors: Very Vanilla, Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso. Accessories: Big Shot, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, Woodgrain embossing folder, Linen Thread.
We stamped the "Happy Birthday" on the Vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso ink. Next, we adhered the leaves. Next, we ran it through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossing folder.

OK, I confess...when the Dress Up Framelits and Dress Form Pop 'n' Cuts die came out, I didn't think I needed them. But then I saw the Dress Form die in action and ... well ... I changed my mind. Now, it's intended to make dresses, of course, but I had to go and see something different. I looked at the bottom of the dress form (the part that looks like a stand) and I saw ... a fireplace. Yep, a fireplace. I immediately envisioned cutting off the top of the dress, making a mantel and putting logs and flames in the fireplace. It took a while, but I did it! Man, was it fun! Here's the result ...
First, the front ... Notice the little slits in the corners. This holds the card closed.
Now, here's the inside. 3D! (Sorry it looks overexposed. I was trying to show the dimension by having a shadow).

How's this for a masculine card?
Wouldn't this be perfect for the handy guy in your life?
The silver background was made using our new Foil Sheets (p. 29, Holiday catalog) and the Chevron embossing folder. Great idea, huh? I wish I could say it was mine! I took a photo of a swap card at convention and this is my version. I didn't look at the card to write down her name, but she's clever, isn't she?
