Birthday Card Using the New Photopolymer Stamp Set

My club members made this card today.  This was really fun to design!

I love the new photopolymer stamp set - Designer Typeset Alphabet!  See my photos below showing how I used them.

Stamps:  Designer Typeset photopolymer stamp set, Blue Ribbon stamp set.  Colors:  Gumball Green, Island indigo, Melon Mambo.  Accessories:  Silver Glimmer Paper, White Baker's Twine, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Here's how I made the card:

First I put the pennant stamp on the block:

Then, instead of putting each letter on a small block and stamping them one by one, I thought "Hmmmm...it sure would be easy to line the individual letter stamps up on the other side of the block, since I can see right through to the pennant stamp that's on this side."  So I did! ...

 (Pennant stamp is on underside of block, letters are on this side).

Here's a side view of the block, with stamps on each side...

I inked up the pennants in Gumball Green, stamped them on the card, then flipped the block over, inked the letters in Melon Mambo and stamped them all at once inside the stamped pennants.  Sweet!  Quicker than stamping the letters one by one ;-)

Fun Springtime Card

Hi stampers!  Today I'm sharing a card made with the new Pinwheel Sizzlit die and the cheerful Floral District Designer Series Paper.  Very "springy," don't you think?  This is called a twisted card.

I really love that pinwheel sizzlit.  It's just so much fun!

Framelits Frenzy - Day 10

Thanks for joining me for day 10 of my Framelits Frenzy featuring the Stampin' Up! Framelits.  Today I'm showing you a tri-fold card with an interlocking front.  I'm going to show you three different views of this card so that you can see how it works.

Cool, huh?  You just know that whoever you give this card to is going to open and close it several times, right?  lol 

To create the tri-fold, take a standard piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and cut it in half lengthwise, so that it is now a 4 1/4 x 11" piece.  Next, with the cardstock positioned horiziontally, score each end 2 3/4" in from the edge.  Fold in both ends, and voila, you have a tri-fold!  I created the tri-fold and the lines you see on either side of the front using our fabulous new Simply Scored tool.  It makes scoring sooooooo easy!  I love it!

Stamp sets:  Lean on Me.  Colors:  Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, So Saffron.  Accessories:  Stampin' Up! Framelits - Labels Collection, Big Shot, Simply Scored scoring tool, markers for coloring.

Gift Bag Card

Here's my version of another card I found in an old magazine the other day.  I thought the idea of a little gift bag on the front of a card was cute.

For the bag filler, I just ran some cardstock through the crimper and then cut thin strips.  They are glued down with Crystal Effects.

Stamps:  Think Happy Thoughts

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Kraft, Ruby Red

Inks:  Versamark

Accessories:  Photo Corner Punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, Crop-A-Dile, Basic Eyelets, Gold embossing powder, Heat Tool, Crimper, Crystal Effects, Stampin' Dimensionals

Christmas Card (& Tutorial) From Friday Night's Class

Here's one of the cards we made on Friday night.  We had a great time!  E-mail me to join us for the next Christmas card class on November 20th!

TUTORIAL:  PACKING TAPE AND GLITTER.

Step 1:  Stamp images for the top layer of your card.

 Step 2,  Using the 1 1/4" circle punch, punch out a portion of the image (this part will be colored later).

Step 3:  Using the 1 3/8" circle punch, go back and punch around the first punched hole, making it larger (this will produce a small ring, which you can discard or use on another card).
 

This is what you'll have after you've used both circle punches:

Step 4:  Color the image on the piece that has been punched out.

Step 5:  Place (but do not adhere) the top layer of the card onto the next layer (in this case, the white piece is the top layer and the gray piece is the next (or second) layer).  You're just putting it there so you can see where to correctly put the colored circle back into place.

Step 6:  Put adhesive on the back of the punched out (and now colored) circle piece and place it into the back into place, lining up the petals of the poinsettia.  Press down on the circle to adhere into place.

Step 7:  Lift the top layer, leaving the circle adhered into place

Step 8:  Place the top layer face down and place a piece of packing tape over the hole.

(Look closely to see the tape over the hole - sorry it doesn't show so well in the picture).

Step 9:  Flip the top piece back over, exposing the sticky side of the packing tape, and sprinkle glitter on the tape.

Step 10:  Adhere the top layer to the next layer down.

Finish your card by adhering all the layers together and adding ribbon or other embellishments!

Stamp sets:  Christ is Born

Cardstock:  Basic Gray, Bravo Burgundy, Whisper White

Inks:  Going Gray, Bravo Burgundy

Accessories:  Bravo Burgundy Marker, Bravo Burgundy 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, packing tape, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

Waaaaaay cool technique!

So, my sister (and SU! upline) sent me a card with this cool background on it.  I stared at it, and stared at it, and stared at it, thinking "How did she do that?"  Being the stubborn little sister that I am, I was determined to figure it out without calling her ;-)  I finally did figure it out, and now I'm going to share it with you!

I couldn't figure out how the main part of the card was pink and the embossed part was white.  WTHeck?  Are you thinking the same thing?  "How did she do that?" 

Here's how:

 

Brayer ink onto your SU! Texturz Background plate.

 

Place the inked-up Texturz plate onto your Multipurpose Platform (which should already be positioned in your Big Shot machine) and carefully lay your cardstock piece on top of the Texturz plate (be careful not to move the cardstock piece once it's on the plate).

 

Place the following on top of the cardstock piece: (1) a scrap piece of paper (so you don't get ink on your silicon rubber piece), (2) the silicone rubber piece and (3) the impressions pad.

 

Run it through the Big Shot and TA-DA, a very cool background!

Whaddaya think?  Pretty cool, huh?

Notice the layered corduroy buttons!  Just take a brad-style button and place the prongs through the front of a regular two-hole button.

Mother's Day - Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder

I used this card as a make & take at the all-day crop where I had a booth last Saturday.  The ladies loved it!

I simply ran an inked up sponge gently over the top of the embossed flower, so as to only ink the raised part.  I have an idea for a "blinged up" version that I hope to work on and post later today!  Enjoy.

Valentine Shaker Card

It's been a very long time since I've made a shaker card.  This was fun!  I used the Love You Much stamp set and Candy Lane Designer Series paper.  Enjoy.

Cool technique - shadowing

Here's a card my club members made last week.  To achieve the "shadow" look, we first stamped the daisies from "Upsy Daisy" in white craft ink.  Then, after that dried, we stamped it again in the Pacific Point ink, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the stamp slightly down and to the left of the first image.  Cool, huh?  (Sorry for the glare.  I had a terrible time trying to get a decent picture of this card).  Enjoy!
